after weeks of using my HTC Touch HD 2, i am ready to comment !
First of, let us see the official specifications.
Nowadays, mobile phone goes beyond the usage
of a communication device. It is a fashion statement too. The HTC Touch HD 2 scores well in this department.Featuring the all black typical of HTC phones, it speaks of class and professionalism. The super thin signature of a mere 11mm is a device of envy. Although the device is 120.5mm x 67mm big, the thinness of it makes up for it. Besides that, it weights only a mere 157 grams. With battery :)
It's 4.3 inches screen definitely makes surfing the internet or watching videos a pleasant activity. 800 x 480 resolution also helps make reading and texting easier as more can fit into one screen worth of details. One thing to note is the screen is now capacitive. I am still trying to get used to it now. A mere touch may produce a click of buttons! XDA has tweaks to combat this and i wrote about it. Read my article on resistive and capacitive screens here.
Internally, compared to it's predecessor the HTC Touch HD, there is a total revamp. It now spots a 1GHz Snapdragon™ processor and 448 MB worth ram. Needless to say, application start ups are fast now and lag is barely noticeable.
Battery however leaves much to be desired. Although on specifications, the performance seems good, my personal usage ( Which i rate it as only moderate calling and using of internet on a GSM network ) has my battery barely lasing me more than 1 day.
A charge a day is a must.
The camera is also much improved over HTC Touch HD. It is 5 mega pixels and the response is quick. It features a dual LED flash which is TOO BRIGHT yes i repeat TOO BRIGHT. Strange to hear this coming from a LED flash right? I have folks telling me they see all white after having their picture taken. Well the photos turns up overexposed too so no flashes for me for now.
Do note, THERE IS NO FRONT CAMERA. ( I personally don't use it anyway )
Network capabilities are the usual. GSM, 3G, Wifi. Bluetooth.
This mobile phone features a great set of sensors too. G-Sensor, Ambiance light, Proximity sensor, GPS and even a digital compass! Keep this up and soon i will have a star trek tricorder!
Multimedia experience is great. The fast cpu and ample ram makes videos lag free. The standard headphone jack is also good to have. External speaker is ok.
Last but not least the interface. Featuring Windows Mobile 6.5, an attempt by Microsoft to make the OS more finger friendly to a certain extend. What saves the day is HTC Sense. Information now revolves around contacts and this makes things much easier indeed! For example, you scroll to contact A and you can access A's details, smses, emails, phone calls etc. A great convenience. For twitter fans, yes twitter is integrated oh and facebook too :)
This is it. My personal review of the HTC Touch HD 2. This is a great phone in my opinion and definitely my device of choice for sometime. Have you got yours yet? :)

You can also consider the HTC Touch HD which is lower in price now. However i strongly recommend the HTC Touch HD 2 above :)
